Water:
Your Rumbling Belly Is Lying To You, You’re NOT Hungry.
A lot of times when people feel hungry, they’re not. They’re just dehydrated. If you drink enough water, your body will be balanced and function the way that it’s meant to. This is very important to aid the release of stored fat. From experience, if you drink enough water will aid in belly fat reduction, leg fat reduction (especially the back of the leg), increased energy and workout performance.
A good rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water. But when it’s warm and humid you will usually have a higher requirement for water intake due to your body naturally trying to cool itself. If you are overweight (not for too much longer!), then you’ll need to drink even more and especially when exercising. This rule of thumb is just a starting point.
Waiting to be thirsty to drink, and drinking large amounts of water at a time will not keep you properly hydrated. We are not camels. You should have a bottle of water with you at all times and sip from it regularly throughout the day. I have noticed that clients who rely on a water fountain to drink will not drink enough. Having your water bottle with you will make you think about drinking more often.
Fix yourself a water goal and make sure that you drink it all by the end of the day. To help improve compliance with water drinking I recommend that you get a Brita water bottle or fill your bottle of water with filtered water. Brita water is probably the cheapest way to drink great quality water. Please note that this water will filter much of the toxic heavy metals found in city water and it will also reduce chlorine that added in to kill bacteria. Chlorine actually kills the good bacteria that we have in our intestines. We need these good bacteria to fight the bad, keep a strong immune system (which prevent us from getting sick) and allow our digestive system to function optimally. I have noticed that poor gut bacteria leads to other issues such as bloating and belly fat.
Adding some lemon or lime slices in water is another way some of my clients can actually reach their water goal. Some clients find that water tastes better this way. Don’t be surprised if you go to poop more often as lemon or lime juice can act as a mild laxative. On that note if you truly want to have a great start to your day; make it a habit to drink a large glass of room temperature water upon awakening withthe juice of a lime or lemon. Not only will this help towards your water goal, but it will also help your body become more alkaline. Being too acidic means that you can be more at risk of developing diseases such as cancer. Not only that but it will prevent you from achieving your full potential.
Optimize your health and add lemon or lime juice in your water in morning.
